Georgia Tech’s trip to New Orleans to play Tulane Saturday will be a return to familiar territory for defensive coordinator Ted Roof. The state of Louisiana is part of Roof’s recruiting area. Roof spent two days there in the spring visiting with coaches and evaluating prospects. Tech does not have any players from the state on the roster but has commitments from two Louisiana high-school seniors, quarterback Christian Campbell and wide receiver Brandon Singleton.

Tech great Greg Gathers, now a high school coach in Louisiana whom Roof visited, is among former Jackets from Louisiana.

“It can be a pretty good area for us,” Roof said. “It has been in the past.”
