Nate Woody hired at Michigan

Former Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Nate Woody has accepted a position on the staff of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, according to a person a familiar with the situation. It will be an off-field role.

Woody coached at Tech for one season after a successful five-season tenure as defensive coordinator at Appalachian State. Under Woody’s direction, the Yellow Jackets finished the season tied for 16th nationally with 25 takeaways after recording a total of 10 interceptions and fumble recoveries in 2017.

The hire was first reported by Football Scoop earlier Monday.
