The tumultuous UGA career of Brendan Langley has come to an an end.
Langley, a sophomore from Marietta, informed coach Mark Richt on Monday of his intention of seeking a transfer. The Bulldogs announced Langley was leaving the team in a news release sent out late Monday night.
“Brendan came to me and expressed an interest in moving to another institution that may provide more playing opportunity,” Richt said in a statement. “ I told him I understood and wish him nothing but the best.”
Langley’s college career started fast at Georgia. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound graduate of Kell High started the four games of his freshman season at cornerback, then the last nine as a backup. This past spring. Langley was moved to offense and wide receiver.
After getting virtually no playing time on offense, Langley was moved back to the defensive side of the ball and actually started at cornerback his second game after the switch — a 34-0 win over Missouri. But Langley would appear in just three more games and never start again.
Langley finished the season having played in five games with four tackles. For his Georgia career he had 16 tackles, three pass break-ups, one tackle for loss and one quarterback pressure.
As a freshman, Langley played in nine games including four starts recording 12 total tackles. This year, he played in three games including one start. He recorded four total tackles.
