Georgia Tech has its first commitment for the 2020 signing class in Mt. Bethel Christian Academy forward Jordan Meka. A three-star prospect, Meka announced his commitment via Twitter on Tuesday.
He represents an in-state win for coach Josh Pastner, who has not had a Georgia high-school signee since forward Evan Cole in the spring of 2017. Pastner has aggressively recruited Georgia, one of the country’s top state for talent, but came up empty in the 2018 and 2019 classes.
Meka, listed at 6-foot-9 and 210 pounds, is rated the No. 198 senior in the country and the No. 11 player in the state of Georgia. He also reported scholarship offers from Georgia and Mississippi State.
Meka can play with his back to the basket and could step into the void at center that will be created with the graduation of James Banks after this season. Tech does not have another post player on the roster and needs one for its Princeton-style offense. His highlight videos show him as an explosive leaper and a shot blocker who uses his reach well.
Meka can sign with Tech when the early signing period begins Nov. 13.
Pastner has two additional spots available for the 2020 class.
