Georgia running back Jasper Sanks never lived up to lofty expectations while in Athens.

For much of his final season at Georgia, Jasper Sanks played fullback and was Musa Smith’s backup for most if the season. Sanks finished the season with 338 yards rushing.

For most Georgia fans, Jasper Sanks most memorable moments weren't positive: A fumble against Florida, a fumble against Tech, and getting stuffed at the goal line by Auburn.

Jasper Sanks was a star recruit at Carver High School in Columbus. When he committed to attend Georgia in 1997, the Bulldogs were coming off of four-consecutive seasons of 6 wins or less.

Georgia head coach Jim Donnan (background) recruited Jasper Sanks (28) out of Carver High School in Columbus. He was the most highly rated of a group of talented Georgia running backs that included Jamal Lewis, Travis Zachery, Audrell Grace, and Ed Wilder.

Injuries and other issues limited Jasper Sanks his freshman season to two games and 10 carries, with 9 of those coming during a blowout of Vanderbilt in 1998.

Jasper Sanks led Georgia with 896 yards rushing as a sophomore, but lost the starting job the next season following a misdemeanor charge that was later dismissed.

Jasper Sanks (28) ran for 1,651 yards, 12 touchdowns in four seasons at Georgia, but was never able to live up to the grandiose expectations placed on him.

In 2000, injuries hobbled Jasper Sanks and he missed two games. By the end of the year he had lost his starting job to Musa Smith. Sanks finished the season with only 352 yards rushing and averaged only 3.8 yards per carry.
