Tony Samuel is reportedly joining the Georgia State football staff as outside linebackers coach. Coach Trent Miles couldn’td comment on the hire, citing the need to complete the human resources process, The hire was first reported by Sports Illustrated.

Samuel has coached at Purdue, Nebraska, where he coached at least four first-round draft picks, Stanford and Western Michigan.

Miles said he will coach the running backs, something he also did at Indiana State and at Washington. Spring pracitce will start Monday. The running backs are a group that has underperformed the past two years, hurt by injuries and transfers.

Samuel would join Eric Lewis as the two coaches working for Miles. Lewis will coach defensive backs.
