Add Georgia spring football to the list of sports you’ll have to go without for the rest of the month.

UGA announced Friday morning that all of team activities would be suspended through March 30, due to the health threat of the coronavirus pandemic. A UGA representative confirmed that the suspension includes football.

“We're following the guidance from the chancellors, which said students are strongly encouraged to be off campus,” Georgia Athletic Director Greg McGarity said. “So for this period of time there will be no practices. We'll see where things stand after this two-week period.”

The Bulldogs, who ended last season ranked No. 4, were scheduled to open practice Tuesday. The schedule included three practices per week until the G-Day intrasquad game, which was to be played April 18 at Sanford Stadium. No word yet on when the practices or G-Day will be re-scheduled.

Georgia also cancelled its annual NFL Pro Day, which was to be conducted Wednesday, and its coaches' clinic later this month.

UGA sports communications sent out a one-paragraph advisory to media Friday:

“During the next two weeks (through March 30) there will be no team activities or practices with any of our sports. This will include the annual football coaches clinic and the traditional pro day with NFL scouts. Will continue to update you on other specifics as information becomes available.”

The NCAA allows FBS teams 15 practice dates each spring, which includes a spring game. Conceivably, Georgia could squeeze in those dates in April.
