Georgia’s Anthony Edwards was named the SEC Freshman of the Year and was chosen to the All-Freshman team and second-team All-SEC, the conference announced Tuesday.
Edwards is the first Georgia player to named Freshman of the Year since 2001.
Those awards were from a vote of SEC coaches. Later in the day, Edwards was voted SEC Newcomer of the Year by the Associated Press. The AP also voted Edwards second-team All-SEC.
The 6-foot-5 Edwards is the nation’s leading freshman scorer, at 19.5 points per game.
