With its new practice courts for basketball and volleyball set to open possibly as early as next week, the floor of the Sports Arena will be re-finished this summer.

The floor is scheduled to be stripped, sanded and re-varnished in July. A new logo, a singular Panthers head, will be put at midcourt. The rest of the lettering that is currently on the floor, including “Charles ‘Lefty’ Driesell Court,” will be put back on.

The cost has yet to be determined.

The new practice courts, built in the Aquatic Center and supported with donations from Cathy Henson and Patty Ferrer, are going through final walk-through before they are cleared for use.
