The College Football Hall of Fame, closed for the past three months, plans to reopen July 1.
The downtown Atlanta attraction shut down March 16 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We’ve missed our fans so much over the last few months and can’t wait to open our doors to them on July 1st,” Hall of Fame CEO Kimberly Beaudin said in a statement. “Our staff is working hard to make sure that we are prepared, taking all precautions and creating a clean and safe environment.”
The Hall of Fame said it will have “new protocols in accordance with state and CDC guidelines, including rigorous cleaning procedures, temperature checks for staff and guests, masks and additional hand sanitizing stations.”
A new exhibit on Historically Black Colleges and Universities will debut when the facility reopens, featuring the history, traditions and legends of HBCU programs.
The Hall of Fame originally was scheduled to host SEC Football Media Days in mid-July, but the SEC announced last week that event will be held virtually this year because of COVID-19.
The Hall of Fame's glass windows were broken and gift shop damaged when looters broke into the building May 29, but none of the museum's exhibits and artifacts were damaged or taken.
The museum and interactive attraction opened in Atlanta in 2014, relocating here from South Bend, Ind.
