College football games affected by the coronavirus

A number of college football teams that have opted to play this fall have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Here is a summary of some of the games that have been postponed or canceled as a result:

FRIDAY, SEPT 11

SMU at TCU (Canceled) - Members of Horned Frogs team, staff test positive for the coronavirus.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 12

Louisiana Tech at Baylor (Canceled) - Bulldogs cite positive tests and contact tracing as reason.

North Carolina State at Virginia Tech (Rescheduled for Sept. 26) - Wolfpack campus experience coronavirus spike.

Tulsa at Oklahoma State (Rescheduled for Sept. 19) - Golden Hurricanes cite limited practice time due to previous positive tests

Army at Rice (TBD) - The Houston school said it needed time to study COVID-19 situation

Marshall at East Carolina (TBD) - Pirates report outbreak

Florida International at Central Florida (TBD) - FIU suspended sports competitions until Sept. 16. (UCF will play Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Sept. 19).

FRIDAY, SEPT. 18

Houston at Memphis (Rescheduled for Dec. 12) - Outbreak reported by Tigers program. Houston will instead play at Baylor, Saturday, Sept 19.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 19

BYU at Army (TBD) - The Cougars reported a number of positive COVID-19 test results

Central Arkansas at Arkansas State (Rescheduled to Oct. 10) - Red Wolves cite insufficient players in position groups.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 25

Memphis at Texas-San Antonio (Canceled) - The Tigers paused football activities on Sept. 11 due to positive tests.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 26

Temple at Navy (Rescheduled to Oct. 10) - Owls requested new date due to limited practices as result of city of Philadelphia restrictions

Georgia State at Charlottte (TBD) - The Panthers postponed “out of an abundance of caution” because of COVID-19 positive tests and contact tracing. Results later determined to be false positives

Notre Dame at Wake Forest (Rescheduled to Dec. 12) - Positive COVID-19 tests landed 13 Fighting Irish players in isolation and 10 more in quarantine

North Texas at Houston (TBD) - The fourth season opener the Cougars have been unable to play due to the coronavirus pandemic

Tulsa at Arkansas State (TBD) - Red Wolves continue to cite insufficient players in position groups.

SATURDAY, OCT. 3

Rice at Marshall (TBD) - Houston school cites COVID-19 practice restrictions

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 7

Louisiana-Lafayette at Appalachian State (Rescheduled to Dec. 4 or 5) - Appalachian State cites positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing. The Mountaineers are scheduled to play again Oct. 14 at Georgia State. That game is unaffected.

SATURDAY, OCT. 17

Vanderbilt at Missouri (Rescheduled for Nov. 28) - Due to positive COVID results within the Vanderbilt program.

LSU at Florida (Rescheduled for Dec. 12) - Spike of COVID cases among Florida players, staff

Cincinnati at Tulsa (Rescheduled for Dec. 4) - Positive COVID-19 tests among Bearcats players

SATURDAY, NOV. 14

Auburn at Mississippi State (Tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12) - Due to positive COVID-19 and quarantining within the Bulldogs’ program

Alabama at LSU (TBD) - Due to a combination of positive tests and quarantining at LSU

Texas A&M at Tennessee (Tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12) - Due to a combination of positive tests and quarantining within the Aggies’ program

Memphis at Navy (TBD) - Due to positive COVID-19 cases at the Naval Academy

North Texas at UAB (Canceled) - COVID positive tests in UAB’s program

Georgia at Missouri (TBD) - Due to COVID-19 cases in the Tigers’ program
