The best college basketball team of the last forty years from Georgia isn't Tech or UGA, according to a ranking by HERO Sports.

The title of Georgia's best team goes to the Augusta Jaguars - of Division II.

Augusta, previously known as Augusta State University, has been to seven of the last nine NCAA tournaments, including Final Four appearances in 2008 and 2009.

The scores for the survey were based on the following criteria:

• Winning Percentage (2010-2015) x 10
• NCAA Tournament Appearance (2000-2015): 0.5 points
• Final Four Appearance (1975-2015*): 1 point
• National Championship (1975-2015*): 2 points
• NABC Player of the Year Award (1982-2015**): 1 point
• NABC Coach of the Year Award (1975-2015*): 1 point

These are  Augusta's scores:

• Winning Percentage (2010-2015): .715 (108-43)
• NCAA Tournament Appearances since 2000: 9
• Final Four Appearances since 1975: 2
• National Championships since 1975: None
• NABC Player of the Year Awards since 1982: None
• NABC Coach of the Year Awards since 1975: None

For the record, Georgia has a .564 winning percentage (109-84) since 2010, and five NCAA appearances since 2000. Tech is 85-101 (.456 winning percentage) since 2010, and also has appeared in five NCAA Tournaments and one Final Four since 2000.
