How the game was won: Jeff Teague was swarmed by two defenders on an inbounds pass in the final seconds and had to pass the ball off to Pero Antic for a 40-foot attempt that didn't come close. It gave the Hawks their 17th straight loss in San Antonio. Teague banked in a shot to tie the game with 13.8 seconds left, but Manu Ginobili answered for the Spurs by hitting two free throws with 3.8 remaining.

Turning point: The Hawks erased a 17-point Spurs lead with a second-half surge, and a dunk by backup guard Dennis Schroder with eight minutes left cut the Spurs' lead to 77-76. Schroder provided a spark with nine points in eight minutes, but the Hawks only held a brief lead when Al Horford hit a jumper with 1:16 remaining. Ginobili made three free throws on the next possession to put the Spurs back on top.

Number: 5 — Points by Jeff Teague. After scoring 20 and 25 in the Hawks' first two games against Toronto and Indiana, Teague was held to five points on 2 of 8 shooting.

Next: The Hawks (1-2) travel to Charlotte (2-3) on Friday night. The Hornets defeated Miami 96-89 on Wednesday.
