Hawks decline to make qualifying offer to Justin Anderson

The Hawks did not make a qualifying offer to Justin Anderson, making the forward an unrestricted free agent, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Anderson averaged 3.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.6 minutes over 48 games last season, including four starts. He was scheduled to make $3.6 million next season.

He spent just one season with the Hawks after he was acquired from the 76ers as part of a three-team trade that included Dennis Schroder going to Oklahoma City.

Not bringing back the four-year veteran clears more playing time for the core of young wing players on the Hawks’ roster, including Kevin Huerter and draft picks De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish.
