Auditions to be a Hawks A-Town dancer

Auditions continue for the Hawks' A-Town dance squad.

Dance Team and Talent Coordinator Donni Frazier talks about her expectations before the preliminary auditions for the Atlanta Hawks A-Town Dancers squad Sunday. "If you don't like fans and you don't like crowds, this may not be for you," Frazier said.

Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley (left), former A-Town Dancer Terri Humphlett, and Sam Crenshaw of Atlanta TV station WXIA act as judges. Between 30-40 dancers will be selected to continue on to finalist week Monday.

Ryan Smith works on her eyeliner. If selected for the final round, participants are expected to be present during the Fabulous Finalist Week.

Nearly 100 women line up outside Philips Arena Sunday for the preliminary auditions.

Erica Lee of Lawrenceville stretches against a wall. Lee says she has been dancing since she was 10 years old. "I just want to dance again, " she said. "It makes me happy."

Ashley Blades (left), Niki Fields (middle), and Phyllis Martin submit photos and resumes at a check-in table. Blades and Fields say they have both been dancing for 10 years and Martin says she's been dancing for 7 years.

A-Town dancers are required to be at least 19 years old, a high school graduate or have a GED, and have a part-time job, full-time job or be in school.
