5 things to know about Freddie Freeman’s hitting streak

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman entered Saturday riding a 14-game hitting streak, the longest of any Brave this season. He extended his streak with an opposite field double in the sixth inning.

Here’s what to know about Freeman’s recent play:

> Freeman is hitting .393 (22-for-56) with a .452 on-base percentage during the streak, which dates to May 19. His was the longest current run in the majors entering the day.

> Freeman's overall .436 on-base percentage leads the league. He's hitting .447 (21-for-47) with runners in scoring position. He leads the league in that category (.358) since the 2013 season began.

> It's not Freeman's only streak. He's reached base safely in 23 consecutive games. That's the longest streak in the National League, and second-longest in the majors behind Jeimer Candelario of the Tigers (26).

> Freeman has hit .362 over his past 38 games before Saturday. His 73 hits in that span are second-most in the NL.

> The first baseman has slaughtered lefties this season. He's hit .392 (29-for-74) against southpaws, best mark in the majors. In an oddity, Freeman's past three homers have come off Marlins lefty Jarlin Garcia.
