Omar Infante was known for his clutch hits when he played for the Braves from 2008 to 2010.

The veteran infielder showed a glimpse of that Wednesday when his two-out, two-RBI single in the top of the ninth inning propelled the Gwinnett Braves to a 3-2 win over the host Syracuse Chiefs in Triple-A baseball.

Infante is hitting .234 in Gwinnett after being released by the Royals and signing with the Braves.

Hector Olivera did not play for Gwinnett (42-56), which ended a season high eight-game losing streak.

Syracuse had taken early lead off G-Braves starter Chris Ellis as former Georgia Tech star Matt Skole led off the fourth with a solo home run, his 13th of the season, to break a scoreless tie.

Ellis allowed two runs on four hits and three walks in five innings while striking out three but did not get a decision.
