When John Schuerholz was hired by the Braves as general manager in October 1990 the team had a solid core of young pitchers - John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, and Steve Avery - plus outfielders Ron Gant and David Justice. For nearly two decades, Schuerholz maneuvered rosters by adding and subtracting players that helped bring nearly as long a period of winning to Atlanta.
