The Braves selected Pinecrest Academy catcher Andres Perez, the son of Braves first-base coach (and former catcher) Eddie Perez, in the 36th round of Major League Baseball’s amateur draft Saturday.

Perez is listed at 6 feet 7 and 260 pounds, and Saturday was his 18th birthday. He was the 1,069th overall pick of the three-day draft, and has a scholarship offer to play baseball at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega.
