Not long after the Braves added speedster Lane Adams to bolster their September depth, they made another move to add a player from the 2018 Braves.

Slugger Lucas Duda signed a minor-league deal to join the team Monday. Duda, acquired by the Braves last August, spent September with the team and played a bench role in the postseason.

It’s been a season gone sour for Duda, who was released by the Royals after hitting .171/.252/.324 and amounting to -0.8 WAR in 39 games. He hit four homers and knocked in 15 runs for Kansas City.

Duda will spend the next month trying to figure out his swing in Triple-A Gwinnett. But the Braves added a potential bench bat for their stretch run at minimal cost.

The 33-year-old hit .222 with a .864 OPS in 20 games with the Braves last season.
