A brief recap of the Braves’ 5-2 win against the Blue Jays on Sunday at Rogers Centre.

How the game was won: Jonny Gomes drove in three runs with a two-out double in the first inning, and the Braves got six strong innings from starter Shelby Miller (five hits, two runs, three walks, six strikeouts) and three scoreless innings from their bullpen. Gomes cleared the bases with a line drive over the head of center fielder Dalton Pompey, who misread the ball off the bat. Gomes added a sacrifice fly in the third following a throwing error by Pompey.

Number: 11. Times that Nick Markakis reached base in 15 plate appearances in the series. The Braves right fielder was 7-for-10 with four walks, and ranks among National League leaders with a .375 batting average.

Next: The Braves have a day off in New York Monday before opening a three-game series Tuesday against the Mets at Citi Field. Trevor Cahill makes his second Braves start when he faces left-hander Jonathon Niese in the series opener.
