Gonzalo Pineda will not take over as manager of Atlanta United until after Saturday’s game at D.C. United because of requirements related to COVID-19 testing protocols.

Pineda will fly to Washington, D.C., to join the team, but interim manager Rob Valentino will manage the team Saturday.

Pineda’s first training session with the team will come Tuesday.

Pineda was supposed to take over the team Thursday, one day after Wednesday’s game against Toronto at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
