Atlanta United fullback Brooks Lennon is expected to miss 6-8 weeks after suffering a knee injury before Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Toronto.
Lennon suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee during pre-match warmups when he slipped on a hard rubber surface that surrounds both touchlines at BMO Field, the club announced Monday.
Lennon becomes the 19th player on the team to miss games because of an injury this season. Saturday was set to be Lennon’s 70th start for the Five Stripes in a league game since joining the team before the 2020 season.
Lennon was acquired from Real Salt Lake, where he made 86 appearances. Aiden McFadden, making his first MLS start, replaced Lennon in the 2-1 loss.
Atlanta United will face the Red Bulls on Thursday and NYCFC on July 3.
