Atlanta United midfielder Ozzie Alonso was taken to Piedmont Hospital following Saturday’s loss in penalty kicks to Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup. He was diagnosed with kidney stones and is “doing fine,” according to the team.

Alonso said he was experiencing significant abdominal pain after the match and was treated by EMTs before being taken from the stadium by ambulance.

Alonso, 37, played 27 minutes against Cruz Azul. He has six appearances in regular-season matches this season.
