Atlanta United’s Brad Guzan underwent successful surgery to repair his ruptured Achilles tendon, according to posts on his social-media accounts Wednesday.
Guzan sustained the injury in the second half of Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Cincinnati at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
According to Guzan’s posts, the surgery was performed at Piedmont in Atlanta.
Atlanta United will host Chattanooga in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday at Kennesaw State. Bobby Shuttleworth is expected to start in goal, with Justin Garces as his backup.
