6 Atlanta United players called up by national teams

Thiago Almada and Miles Robinson headline the six Atlanta United players who were called to their national teams for coming matches.

Robinson, a centerback, was called up by the U.S. for friendlies against Germany on Saturday in Connecticut and Ghana on Oct. 17 in Nashville. He has two goals and one assist in 26 appearances for Atlanta United.

Almada, an attacking midfielder, was called up by Argentina for World Cup qualifying matches against Paraguay on Thursday and Peru on Oct. 17. Almada has four caps for Argentina. He leads MLS in assists (17) and has 11 goals in 30 appearances for Atlanta United.

Striker Giorgos Giakoumakis was called up by Greece for Euro qualifying matches against Ireland on Friday and the Netherlands on Monday. Giakoumakis has made 17 appearances for Greece. He has scored 15 goals in 27 appearances for Atlanta United.

Winger Saba Lobjanidze was called up by Georgia for a friendly against Thailand on Thursday and a Euro qualifier against Cyprus on Sunday. Lobjanidze has made 35 appearances for Georgia. He has three goals and three assists in eight appearances for Atlanta United.

Centerback Luis Abram was called up by Peru for World Cup qualifying matches against Chile on Thursday and Argentina on Oct. 17. He has 37 appearances for Peru. He has made 21 appearances for Atlanta United.

Fullback Caleb Wiley was called up by the U.S. Under-23s for friendlies against Mexico on Wednesday and Japan on Oct. 17. The matches are part of the team’s preparations for next year’s Olympics. He has four goals and four assists in 29 appearances for Atlanta United.
