Atlanta United  announced Tuesday that it has signed striker Adam Jahn, who scored the penalty kick for Columbus in the shootout that eliminated the Five Stripes from the MLS playoffs in 2017. The club gave Phoenix an undisclosed transfer fee and Lagos Kunga, who will go on loan there for the season.

Jahn, 29, will add depth at striker behind Josef Martinez.

Jahn most recently played for Phoenix Rising in USL, where he scored 17 goals in 31 appearances. Before Phoenix, he played for San Jose in MLS from 2013-15 and Columbus from 2016-18. He scored 12 goals with two assists in 103 appearances.

Though not a prolific scorer in MLS, he showed ability in loan stints in USL with eight goals in 28 appearances with Sacramento, where he was on loan in 2014 and again in ’16 while with San Jose. He added three goals in 10 appearances with OKC Energy, where he was on loan in 2018 while with Columbus.

Jahn is a native of El Macero, Calif., and attended college at Stanford.

Jahn has been working out with Atlanta for the past week.

Kunga, a Homegrown signing, has yet to make an appearance for Atlanta United in an MLS game. He went on loan to Memphis in the USL last season, scoring one goal in 22 appearances that included 10 starts.
