Atlanta United’s George Bello returned to Atlanta after being evaluated and released by a Birmingham-area hospital on Saturday.

Bello appeared to sustain a head injury during Saturday's 3-2 win in a friendly against Birmingham Legion at BBVA Field.

The team is going to monitor Bello over the next few weeks, according to a spokesman. There is not a timetable yet on his return. Bello will not travel with the team to Mexico, where it has another friendly scheduled for Tuesday.

Bello, 18, jumped to try to head the ball on a corner kick in the second half of Saturday’s game. He landed on his back, with the back of his head appearing to slam into the ground, according to video streams posted on Twitter.
