The Atlanta Crackers played at Ponce de Leon Park from its opening in 1907 until a fire destroyed the original stadium in 1923. The ballpark was rebuilt in 1924 and served as the Crackers' home until 1965, when the team moved to the new Atlanta Stadium prior to the arrival of the major league Braves in 1966. (Although the Crackers were never an MLB team, the squad served as Atlanta's hometown team in the Southern League.) Ponce de Leon Park was demolished in 1966 but its signature magnolia tree remains near the railroad tracks that ran past the old ballpark's outfield area.
