The NBA released the first half of teams’ schedules Friday, and the Hawks will begin their 2020-21 season Dec. 23 in Chicago.

Hawks games will be featured on NBA TV three times (at Memphis on Dec. 26, vs. Minnesota on Jan. 18 for the MLK Day game, at Milwaukee on Jan. 24) and ESPN once (at Dallas on Feb. 10). For the MLK Day game, the Hawks will debut their City Edition MLK jerseys and court. That also marks the first game the team expects to allow 10% fan capacity (1,700) in State Farm Arena, though their home opener is technically Dec. 28 vs. the Pistons (for the first five home games, the Hawks will allow only friends/family of staff in).

The NBA is releasing the 2020-21 season schedule in two parts because there will be time allotted in the middle for makeup games, because of the coronavirus pandemic. The season also consists of 72 games instead of the usual 82.

This schedule is more compressed, and as a result, the Hawks will have three sets of back-to-back games in January and three sets in February. Only two games have been released of the Hawks’ schedule in March: at Miami on March 2 and at Orlando on March 3, so they will have at least one back-to-back in that month.

So far, the Hawks are slated to play 17 games at State Farm Arena and 20 games on the road (three road, one home in December, eight home, eight road in January, eight home, seven road in February and two road in March, concluding the first half of the season).

Per the team, “all regionally available games will be televised on Fox Sports Southeast and Fox Sports Go anchored by the network’s flagship pregame and postgame show, ‘Hawks LIVE.’ All games will also air on the Hawks’ radio flagship 92-9 The Game and the Hawks Radio Network, with ‘Voice of the Hawks’ Steve Holman and pregame, halftime and postgame host Mike Conti.”

The Hawks also play two exhibition games, two home vs. Orlando on Dec. 11 and 13 and two at Memphis on Dec. 17 and 19.
