INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Outside linebackers coach Ted Monachino did not travel with the team Friday and will miss the Rams and Seahawks games to attend to a personal matter, according to the Falcons.

Defensive assistant Lanier Goethie will fill in for Monachino during his absence.

Practice squad note: Running back B.J. Baylor was signed to the Falcons’ practice squad Saturday. Baylor was with the Packers during the exhibition season after being signed as an undrafted college free agent after the 2022 NFL draft. He played at Oregon State.

Fernando Velasco to join front office: Fernando Velasco, who was Arkansas’ director of player development, announced on Twitter that he’s set to become the Falcons’ assistant director of player development.

Velasco, who played at Georgia and played in the NFL, went with Sam Pittman to Arkansas. After Velasco’s NFL career, he spent two seasons on Georgia’s staff as assistant director of player development for football.
