FLOWERY BRANCH -- Falcons outside linebacker Dante Fowler, who has a knee injury, was placed on injured reserve Friday and will be out at least three games.

Also, cornerback Avery Williams (hamstring) will be listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins, which begins at 1 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Fowler has started five games and made 12 tackles (seven solo), two sacks and has had three quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, two tackles for losses and one pass defensed. Rookie Ade Ogundeji is listed as Fowler’s backup on the team’s depth chart.

“Guys are going to have to step in and maybe even be more of a rotation of guys doing it, but they all know how to do it, they all learn, you know, from the very beginning,” defensive coordinator Dean Pees said about replacing Fowler.

“I told you we kind of learn concepts and stuff. Again everybody has to learn how to do all of it so that doesn’t happen when all of a sudden somebody is out and, boy, the wheels fall off because now you can’t run half of your stuff.

“The other guys just have got to step in and do the same things we asked Dante to do.”

The Falcons also signed kicker Elliott Fry to the practice squad and released safety Dwayne Johnson.
