NEW ORLEANS -- Here’s what Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, the most valuable player of Super Bowl LIX, had to say after the 40-22 win over the Chiefs on Sunday:

On what it took for the Eagles to get to this point: “It definitely took a team effort to get us to the point of winning the Super Bowl. The only thing I can think about is the amount of effort and work that has been put in over time. We had a focused group of players out there. Offense was able to score points and take advantage of opportunities, just enough to put points on the board. The defensive players played their asses off like they have been all year. I think this game is a great testament to our defense.”

On how he is feeling after winning the Super Bowl: “I’m still processing. It’s been a long journey, it’s a journey of ups and downs and highs and lows. I’ve always stayed true to myself and have this vision of being the best that I can be, and that evolved, over time, into this desire to win. You don’t do great things without having good guys around you. The effort, sticking to the script, and always trusting the process is what got us here.”

On his expectations going into Super Bowl LIX: “I think the doubts come with competing no matter what, like there’s always going to be doubts and questioning, but this is the purpose and my calling in life so I’m always going to give it my all.”

On how the Eagles were able to come together for a win: “It was just something that kind of came together. I think we were able to execute and find multiple ways to win together and dominate in the pass game. We did what we needed to do and did what needed to be done. When you have a goal like this, there’s always the question of the mission and why you’re doing this, but ours was always aligned.”

On what makes the Eagles different as a team: “It’s about how we approach things, never getting too high and never getting too low. We have to be able to use these experiences to build our future, and I think we’ve been able to do that. At the end of the day, this is all a gift.”

On how he and the team is feeling after winning Super Bowl LIX: “I know everyone’s excited, everyone has been on a long journey to get here. It’s been a fun ride and I’ve been grateful every step. I took great pride in never backing down from a challenge, always turning my negatives into positives, my weaknesses into strengths. So it’s taken great effort and determination. My family has been there every step of the way for me.”

On the development of the Eagles throughout the season: “For us, it was just really about taking it one day at a time through these years. We put a high value and great focus on finishing. At halftime, we kept thinking we need to finish this.”

On competing against Patrick Mahomes in a Super Bowl rematch: “I have a ton of respect for Pat. It’s always a pleasure to compete against him. I have the utmost respect for him as a player. Things come right on time and you know, the last Super Bowl wasn’t our time yet. Sometimes we have to accept that you have to wait your turn. As great as this experience just was, we still need to process that. So yeah, I have a ton of respect for Pat and the process that it takes to get here. It’s all about purpose, and purpose never changes. And winning a national championship is just an unprecedented feeling. That kid in me always kept working at this, and I stayed true to his vision, but it really all began with great leadership and those who set examples for me. For that great leadership, I give a lot of credit to my parents.”
