Former Braves outfielder and current broadcaster Jeff Francoeur has the coronavirus, he said in a Twitter post Tuesday.

Francoeur said “I have tested positive for COVID-19. I am asymptomatic and feel fine, but I will be in self-quarantine until I’m cleared to get back to the broadcast booth with Chip (Caray) and Tom (Glavine). In the interim, I’ll be following the Braves on Fox Sports South. Please keep safe and wear a mask.”

Francoeur was set to work this weekend for Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast as the Braves open the coronavirus-shortened 60-game season with a series against the Mets in New York. The broadcasters, however, were to call the games from Truist Park, using television feeds.

Francoeur had two stints with the Braves as a player, 2005-09 and the 2016 season. He hits 85 homers in a Braves uniform.

Francoeur is not the Braves’ first brush with the COVID-19. Four players tested positive for the virus earlier this month, including star first baseman Freddie Freeman, who is now back and playing for the team after recovering. The Braves also were close to signing outfielder Yasiel Puig before the deal fell through when he tested positive for the virus.
