Brian Jordan joked that he’ll need the helicopter Saturday that Deion Sanders used in the early 1990s to fly from a Falcons practice in Suwanee to a Braves game downtown.
Jordan will broadcast two games in two sports: first the Georgia Tech-Kennesaw State football game, beginning at noon at Bobby Dodd Stadium, on Bally Sports South and then the Braves-Miami Marlins baseball game, beginning at 7:20 p.m. at Truist Park, on Bally Sports Southeast. He’ll serve as an analyst in the booth on both telecasts.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Jordan told the AJC. “I’m going to try to get that helicopter to fly me over. Call Deion and borrow his helicopter.”
Actually, according to Bally Sports, Jordan will be driven the 12 miles up I-75 from Bobby Dodd Stadium to Truist Park and prep for his second broadcast of the day en route.
Jordan was a two-sport athlete in his playing days. He played in both the NFL and MLB, although not at the same time. He played three seasons with the Falcons (1989-91) before deciding to focus on baseball. He spent 15 seasons in MLB (1992-2006), including five with the Braves (1999-2001 and 2005-06).
Bally Sports South/Southeast senior vice president and general manager Jeff Genthner said it is “only fitting” for the networks “to have Atlanta’s ‘Two Sports Man’ call both games” Saturday.
Jordan will join play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun and sideline reporter Lyndsay Rowley on the Georgia Tech-Kennesaw State telecast and will join play-by-play announcer Chip Caray, analyst Paul Byrd and reporter Nick Green on the Braves-Marlins game.
