Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron left Saturday’s 2-1 win against New England with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

With his team leading 1-0, Almiron dropped to the turf of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the 30th minute. When trainers came out to examine him, Almiron began pointing behind his left hamstring. He was replaced by Ezequiel Barco.

Atlanta United manager Gerardo Martino said that Almiron is undergoing tests, but the injury appears to be muscular and that it seems he will miss the final two games: Oct. 21 vs. Chicago and Oct. 28 at Toronto. If Atlanta United wins its next two games it will take the Supporters’ Shield.

In his postgame interview, Martino seemed somber. He said Almiron’s injury was a reason why.

“I put myself in his place, to know that he’s worked so hard this season, it’s a tough situation for him that he’s probably going to have miss the next two games,” Martino said.

Almiron, 24 years old, is arguably Atlanta United’s best player with 12 goals and 14 assists this season.

He suffered a hamstring around the same time last year, sitting out four games between Sept. 27-Oct. 15.

Atlanta United has two games remaining in the regular season:

Its first playoff game won’t be until Nov. 4. It’s first home playoff game won’t be until Nov. 11.
