During seminar at Arizona State University’s Global Sports Summit Friday, Adidas president Mark King said Adidas would “definitely” have interest in signing Colin Kaepernick if the free agent quarterback signed with a team.

While King said Adidas doesn’t want to appear as if the company would use the noise created Kaepernick’s protests from the 2016 football season for profit, the company would love to sign Kaepernick to an endorsement deal.

"We love athletes that have a platform to make the world a better place," King said, according to AZ Central. "If they're an activist in a way that brings attention to something that moves the world forward, even if there's controversy at that moment, we're really interested in those athletes because I think it represents the world today."

Kaepernick, the former quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, did not sign with an NFL team during the 2017 football season after opting out of his contract withthe 49ers in March 2017. Kaepernick spent the 2016 football season kneeling during the playing of the national anthem in protest of police brutality and social injustice.

The former Nevada quarterback’s accomplishments from his six seasons with the 49ers include two NFC Championship appearances and a Super Bowl appearance.
