This bodes well for the Braves.
The Gwinnett Stripers, the Braves’ Triple-A affiliate, have set a team record for home runs in a season after just 79 games. Their total of 125 surpasses the previous best of 123 homers in 143 games in 2011.
Adam Duvall hit two home runs and Alex Jackson added one for Gwinnett.
Duvall went 2-for-3 with two homers and six RBIs. Jackson went 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
Duvall posted his third multi-homer game of the season. He leads the International League in RBIs (64) and is tied for first in homers (24). Jackson has homered three times in his last three games.
The Stripers (44-35) defeated the Indianapolis Indians 8-1 on Friday night at Coolray Field.
Braves prospect Kyle Wright (5-4) pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed just one run and three hits. He struck out eight.
Mike Foltynewicz starts for Gwinnett Saturday at 6:05 p.m., six days after being demoted by the Braves.
Foltynewicz, 27, will try to recapture the form that made him a 2018 All-Star. He had a 6.37 ERA in 11 starts.
