Nurses spend a lot of time on their feet, so finding the perfect pair of shoes is no small matter. With its online community of over 500,000 nurses, Nurse.org decided to go straight to the source by asking their verified nursing community to review the top nursing shoe brands themselves.
According to nurses, the best shoe brands for nurses in 2023 are Gales, Figs, Asics and BALA — all returning 2022 contenders for top nursing shoe brands. But, only one brand can be the best. For 2023, that brand is Gales. Here’s why.
Gales
Designed specifically for nurses, Gales shoes come in a variety of stylish colors and wont break the bank in the process. Alice Benjamin, MSN, BSN, RN, reviewed the brand for Nurse.org, and she ranked Gales shoes highly for comfort, water resistance, style, durability, non-slip and overall quality.
Figs
Figs Scrubs and New Balance joined forces to create the Figs | New Balance 996 Unisex shoe. Sibyl Vinas Meza, a Labor and Delivery nurse of five years, tested out the shoes to positive results.
According to Meza, the shoes are cost effective, stylish, durable, comfortable, easy to clean and have a high overall quality.
Asics
Alice Benjamin also reviewed the Asics Novablast tennis shoes for three shifts, ultimately giving them the third highest spot among competing nurse shoe brands. Benjamin only gave the shoes below top marks for water resistance and ankle support, which each earned four out of five marks.
BALA
Thousands of nurses helped design the BALA Twelves, shoes uniquely crafted for female foot morphology and the nurse lifestyle. Benjamin gave the BALA Twelves maximum marks in all categories.
When asked what she disliked about the shoes, Benjamin told Nurse.org “Nothing! I love my BALA shoes!”
