Avenger’s star Jeremy Renner was crushed by a snow plow on New Year’s Day while performing yard work near his Nevada mansion. Now Renner has taken to social media to share his recent visit to the hospital staff who helped save his life.
“I got to revisit the amazing group of people who saved my life,” Renner said on Instagram Stories. The actor also featured a photo of himself posing at Reno’s Renown Regional Medical Center, the Nevada hospital that treated Renner after the accident.
Renner was crushed by his own 7-ton snow plow while trying to clear snow for a relative, CNN reported. Having suffered over 30 broken bones, the “Rennervations” star broke eight ribs, an eye socket, knee, shoulder, pierced his liver and collapsed one of his lungs.
Renner reportedly exited his snow plow to aid a stranded motorist near his Lake Tahoe mansion when the plow began sliding, ultimately striking the actor. Renner has earned a local reputation as a Reno regular who dedicates a significant portion of his time at his Washoe County estate helping his community.
“The Pistenbully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake,” the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reported, which CNN obtained through a public records request.
“Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”
Last week, Renner made his first red carpet appearance since the snow plow accident. The Hawkeye actor was present for the premiere of his new Disney+ series “Rennervations.” Within the series, Renner and his team refurbish and repurpose service vehicles to aid communities and children in need.
