Voter registration events are planned across Georgia on Tuesday as part of broad effort to enroll eligible voters ahead of the November election.

Georgians will be able to sign up at several MARTA stations, universities, high schools and registration drives. Registration is also available online through the state’s My Voter Page, election offices and driver’s license offices.

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan event celebrated each September to encourage participation in democracy, but it’s not the only or last day to register. Georgia’s voter registration deadline is Oct. 7.

There are already over 8.1 million registered voters in Georgia, and 5 million voters turned out in the last presidential election four years ago.

Georgia elections are open to U.S. citizens who aren’t serving a felony sentence and are at least 18 years old by the time they vote.

MARTA voter registration events are planned at the College Park, Doraville, Five Points, H.E. Holmes, Kensington, Lindbergh Center and North Springs stations from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. To register, attendees must bring a driver’s license, state ID card or provide the last four digits of their Social Security number.

Several other registration opportunities in Fulton County are also available at locations including Clark Atlanta University, the Milton Library and Georgia Tech.

All voters can check their registration status and view sample ballots through the state’s My Voter Page at mvp.sos.ga.gov. Voters are required to show ID before casting a ballot in Georgia.
