Instead of attacking Musk, let’s fix the problems
The Democrats’ “hair on fire” reaction to the exposure of corruption in USAID is deeply troubling. Instead of blindly defending every expenditure and attacking Musk, they should be asking the question: How can we more wisely invest U. S. tax dollars in worthy causes worldwide?

Trump lowers immigration bar for some
It’s clear. President Trump does not want refugees and asylum-seekers entering the United States. He has suspended the entry of all undocumented migrants, halted the U.S. refugee resettlement program, and ended another program that allowed migrants from certain countries on humanitarian grounds.
So I was quite surprised when the president recently directed government officials to resettle refugees from South Africa using the program that he previously suspended. My surprise dissipated when I realized that the refugees Trump invited to resettle in the U.S. are Afrikaners, descendants of European colonists, mostly from the Netherlands. Trump is convinced — without any evidence— that the South African government is determined to confiscate land from the Afrikaners (who comprise 8% of the population and control approximately three-quarters of the country’s private farmland).
Am I wrong, or does it seem that Trump’s requirements for refugee status are a bit lower for people of white European descent than they are for others?

In Trump’s first 3 weeks, we’ve all been harmed
In three chaotic weeks, we’ve seen our democratically elected president gleefully rip apart the federal government without caring who is harmed. He is practically daring anyone to stop him. The GOP Congress cowers under threats of being primaried.
He’s fired most agency inspectors general who prevent waste, fraud and abuse. Astoundingly, Elon Musk has been turned loose inside our federal payment system. Now Trump’s trying to stop payments for green energy job-creating projects in Georgia. There won’t be much pain, he says. Hogwash. Tell that to Georgians who rely on WIC or Head Start, or to the 20% of American patients in Community Health Centers.
He’s done absolutely nothing on inflation and the economy but to threaten or enact expensive tariffs. The damage done just to America’s children is shameful. No matter who we voted for, we all lose. Soon, even the MAGA crowd will have to admit they’ve been had. America is suffering a world of hurt.
