This is not Trump’s U.S. It belongs to us.

I am writing regarding Todd Copilevitz’s Dec. 6 AJC essay, “I’ll leave Trump’s USA. Is that selfish?”

First, this is not “Trump’s USA.” President-elect Donald Trump did not engage in a coup to take over the country. This is “our USA,” and the people voted for Trump in large part because of the awful results we have lived through under the Biden-Harris administration: open border, high inflation, multiple wars, disunity, corruption, etc.

Second, as for leaving the United States being selfish, I believe that the entire framing of this series demonstrates profound narcissism and paranoia. Copilevitz is not the story here, and neither is his personal fears. Trump has no idea who Copilevitz is, and Trump certainly is not out to get him.

The real story is the future of the country and the need to fix the many problems created in the past four years. Nothing more, nothing less.

Health insurance reform is needed

Physicians are frustrated that lay people and artificial intelligence at insurance companies are telling them what they can and cannot do for their patients. Many companies have the policy “Delay, deny, defend.” Delay as long as possible. Deny it. Then defend it if a case goes to court.

This scenario reminds me of the movie “The Rainmaker,” in which a young man dies because the health insurance company wouldn’t cover lifesaving treatment, using the delay, deny and defend policy.

People say we need health care reform when what we really need is health insurance reform.

Hey Coach: Stop whining and blaming referees

Every week, it seems major college coaches must blame the referees for their losses. They tend to say that the officials favor certain conferences. Today’s major head football coaches make too much money to act like children and not accept blame for losses.

Every day, bad things happen to good people. Learn to live with it.
