For its annual top 50 companies in the United States list, the employment site examined the actions of its 146 million U.S. users, categorizing them into four major pillars: interest in the company, engagement with the company's employees, job demand and employee retention. Researchers only included companies with more than 500 employees and actions from 2017.
After analyzing the results, they found that Amazon claimed the No. 1 spot. It praised the e-commerce corporation for its offline presence and billion-dollar acquisition deals. It also noted that its inventors won more than 2,300 patents in 2017. Plus, it’s currently in the process of picking its second headquarters for which Atlanta is in the running.
Other notable companies in the top 10 include Facebook, which was No. 3; Apple, which was No. 6; and Netflix, which was No. 10.

LinkedIn noted similarities between brands that made the cut. Improving diversity, reexamining healthcare and thinking beyond job perks were all trends among the top companies. For example, those at Amazon cited their ability to work on industry-leading projects as an important quality.
Coca-Cola, which is headquarted in Atlanta, was notably not among the top companies this year. In the 2017 report, it was No. 34 on the list. However, analysts wrote, "the iconic company is coming down from its sugar high, and declining revenues have led management to cut costs, including 1,200 jobs."
In fact, Coke announced another cut at the top of 2018. It said it will do away with up to 350 management positions.
