An Australian man called police in an irate mood because officers said his father burned his marijuana after a dispute.
Northern Territory police posted on Facebook about the incident, saying that they received a call around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday from a man in the Humpty Doo area, reporting that a fight with his father ended with his marijuana being burned.
According to ABC, the father threw all the marijuana onto a bonfire.
"Things came to a head yesterday evening, and the father allegedly threw all of his son's cannabis plants onto the bonfire and completely destroyed them," Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen told ABC.
Police said the evidence was gone when they arrived, and the son, who recently moved back in with his father, was attempting to gather up the rest of his stash.
"The evidence has been destroyed, as has the son's reputation ... people don't usually come forward to say their drug stash has been destroyed or stolen, but there you go," Jorgensen said.
Police said “it was questioned whether he was aware that possession of cannabis was unlawful,” but the son said he thought his father deserved some punishment for his act as well.
