Within the last year, Mattel has released a slew of new dolls in an effort to teach young girls about a variety of careers. The company is continuing its endeavors with the release of the robotics engineer Barbie.

The brand announced the news a few days ago, revealing that it had collaborated with two organizations dedicated to helping girls explore STEM fields - Black Girls Code and Tynker.

"For almost 60 years, Barbie has exposed girls to roles where women are underrepresented to show them that they can be anything," Lisa McKnight, general manager and senior vice president of Barbie, said in a statement. "By playing with Robotics Engineer Barbie on and offline, we are giving girls a new platform for play in their imaginary world and teaching them important skills for their real world."

The Barbie is available now in four skin tones for $13.99, and young girls will even have access to six free online lessons “designed to teach logic, problem-solving and the building blocks of coding while casting young learners in different roles alongside Barbie,” the company said.
