The platform, which already allows one-minute uploads, could make the change in the near future, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The social media network has reportedly collaborated with content creators and publishers over the last several weeks to roll out the feature. It will currently only accommodate vertical videos, but other orientations could be in the works.

WSJ noted that plans are “tentative and subject to change.”

A Pew Research Center survey recently revealed that Instagram is the second most favored social media app. It placed right behind YouTube, which was chosen by 85 percent of those surveyed. Seventy-two percent picked Instagram.

No word yet on when Instagram could announce the hour-long video feature. For now, users can upload one-minute videos, post 15-second clips to their stories or record live videos.
