All Dressbarn locations are open and conducting business as usual, and the chain's e-commerce site is still available, officials said in a press release. Information for closing individual stores, as well as closing sales, will be shared during the wind down process.

There are  13 stores in Georgia, including locations in Austell, Kennesaw, Lawrenceville and Woodstock.

“For more than 50 years, Dressbarn has served women’s fashion needs, and we thank all of our dedicated associates for their commitment to Dressbarn and our valued customers,” Steven Taylor, chief financial officer of Dressbarn, said in the release. “This decision was difficult, but necessary, as the Dressbarn chain has not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today’s retail environment.”

A recent credit analysis, obtained by the New York Times, said Ascena raked in $6.6 billion in revenue by November 2018. However, the report revealed there was a "significant" earnings decline in 2019.

Dressbarn was founded in Stamford, Connecticut, in 1962 by Elliot and Roslyn Jaffe. The married couple wanted to provide women who were entering the workforce a one-stop shop for valuable fashions.
