A community in southeast Atlanta has been the target of several attempted home invasions, leading the Atlanta Police Department to step up patrols in the area.

Channel 2 Action News reported that one attempted home invasion happened at a house on Farrington Avenue in Peoplestown about 1 a.m. Monday.

The family’s Ring doorbell system caught two assailants on camera on the porch, as the family slept inside. Video shows one man kicking the door, while another man stands next to him with a gun.

“We realized we were very close to something terrible happening," the homeowner told the news station. He asked not to be identified because arrests have not been made in the case.

The men were not able to get in and eventually walked away. The family believes that’s because of their reinforced door and windows.

Two other neighbors also reported loud knocks at their doors, Channel 2 reported.
