President Carter departs Atlanta aboard Special Air Mission 39

A truck helped ensured the remains of former President Jimmy Carter boarded Air Force One, the plane that normally transports the current president. It operated for the flight under the call sign "Special Air Mission 39," as it departed Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Georgia. Former President Jimmy Carter will be given a national send-off in Washington, D.C., for three days of tributes before returning to his final resting place in Plains, Georgia.
